Under the Aadhaar Act, 2016, every resident can apply for an Aadhaar number. A resident is a person who has been living in the country for 182 days or more in the year immediately preceding the date of application for enrolment. If you meet this condition and wish to enrol for Aadhaar, you will have to submit certain documents that support your claims. The documents to be submitted at the UIDAI authorized centres are not too many and the whole process is quite simple. The kind of documents you have to hand over can be divided into four sections – Proof of Identity, Proof of Address, Proof of Date of Birth and Proof of Relationship.
